A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS

Louisa Warde • Jul 06, 2018

This month I am missing my G&T so thought it only appropriate that I include one of my favourites from Surrey based Silent Pool. Ok, so those of you who know me will note that I may have been swayed by the stunning bottle(s) which make amazing stem vases, but the fell in love with the citrusy notes over lots of ice with a dash of orange peel. The perfect sundowner for this time of the year. I will stick to my lime and soda over ice but you guys… enjoy!

Blow LTD is an awesome service which comes to your home for blow-dries, make-up and OPI nails. Given my state as an oven on most days and nights, I am loving the fact that I can just book on the App for the lovely Alison (nails) or Stacey (hair) to come round and pamper me. Plus, its no more expensive than heading to your salon. Double whammy.

I was given this great little gift set from The Natural Birthing Company which includes all sorts of natural lotions for pregnancy, birth and life as a new mum. I am totally dependent on the Cool It Mama refreshing aromatherapy spray for my heffalump ankles at the moment – kept in the fridge it is my ahhhhh time with feet up on the Swiss Ball. Also available from Boots.

On our recent trip to Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, we picked up this mini ceramic pot of famous Halen Mȏn salt, again mainly for its cuteness but it works perfectly when sprinkled over char-grilled veggies on the barbecue.

Given my aforementioned oven status, this matte blotting perfector from Murad has been my lifesaver when I have to go out for meetings. Pop it on before foundation or top-up afterwards, I do not know

how it works but it helps keep that shine at bay. It also won at Red’s Beauty Awards so don’t just take my word for it.

And finally, a visit to the World of Wedgwood factory in Stoke, along with necessary afternoon tea and shopping meant, that I had to bring home this cute alphabet mug for Squirt. A reproduction of an Eric Ravilious, 1937 design I love the drawings and fine china. It will, in all likelihood, never get used but the thought was there and it can be an educational tool if nothing else!

Looking for an escape for the weekend we headed over to Yorkshire, my home county for a couple of nights. Owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and located within the stunning Bolton Abbey Estate the country house hotel has 40 rooms and two restaurants. It is the perfect place from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales and all of the outdoor pursuits you would expect.

I have been lucky enough to interview some amazing people in my role as journalist and editor. As I spend some time filling boxes (we are moving very soon) and being ever-so-slightly sentimental about what we keep and what we recycle I have been reminded of this and wanted to share just a handful of my favourite interview memories to date…
